India will be led by Shikhar Dhawan on a limited-overs series of Sri Lanka
While Virat Kohli's team is in England, a young Indian team will play three ODIs and as many T20Is in the island country. The national selectors selected youngsters Chetan Sakariya, Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Rana, and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the squad on Thursday, and along with seasoned campaigners Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Manish Pandey, and Hardik Pandya.
Along with several of his National Cricket Academy partners, Rahul Dravid could be named the team's head coach. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Dravid, together with Paras Mhambrey and some other members of the Indian team, will depart for Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series.
Padikkal has been a frequent performer on the domestic circuit and the Indian Premier League, while Saurashtra's Sakariya had a great run with Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. And his commitment paid off as he was called up for the first time.Net bowlers are Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore, and Simarjeet Singh.
The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will hold all of the matches. The Indian team will arrive in Sri Lanka on June 29 and will be subjected to tight quarantine till July 1, after which they will be allowed to practice. The team can start training on June 5 just after the seven-day quarantine is finished.
While the BCCI has yet to officially name the coach, it is expected that Rahul Dravid, along with NCA colleagues including Paras Mhambrey, will follow the team as head coach.
